Are your kids keen to learn to sew?  This 4-week programme will see them introduced to using the sewing machine, drawing applique designs and cutting fabrics, using the iron and hand-sewing skills.

There is a different skill to learn each week.  All materials included, except where stated.

Are your kids keen to learn to sew?  This 4-week programme will see them introduced to using the sewing machine, drawing applique designs and cutting fabrics, using the iron and hand-sewing skills.

There is a different skill to learn each week:-

WEEK 1: Introduction to the sewing machine – learn how to thread the machine and make it ready for use; learn about the different types of presser feet, needles and stitches.  Practise sewing and earn your Sewing Machine Driver’s Licence.

WEEK 2: Get Stuck in to Applique – Learn to use Bondaweb and how to apply to fabrics with the iron.  Draw and cut your own design and apply to fabric, stitch around your designs, ready to make into a cushion* cover or bag the following week.

WEEK 3: Sewing Skills in Action – Sew your cushion* or bag using the sewing machine.

WEEK 4:  Hand-sewing techniques – learn how to sew on a button, do a running stitch, back-stitch and blanket stitch whilst making a felt pencil case by hand.

Photography – During all of our workshops photographs are taken for promotional purposes only. Please make us aware at the time of booking if you would prefer not to be included.

Booking our classes is similar to making a theatre booking, the ‘show must go on’ regardless of your attendance, therefore classes are non-refundable and sadly there are no catch-up opportunities for missed sessions. Please do check your diary carefully before booking a class.

Workshop bookings require payment in full either through the website or in the shop with payment via cash, voucher or card.  Gift Voucher bookings can be made by in the shop.

Workshop Cancellation – by Haberdasherdo Customers

If you have to cancel your workshop please notify Haberdasherdo as soon as possible by telephone: 01202 428612, and confirm in writing by emailing us at info@haberdasherdo.co.uk

Workshop fees are non-refundable unless we cancel (see below)

You may transfer your workshop (subject to a £5 administration charge) to another of our workshops as long as we have 14 days notice. Alternatively, you may arrange to send an acquaintance in your place.

We do understand that sometimes you might have to cancel at late notice and we will do our best to re-fill you place by re-listing on our website, checking a waiting list, promoting late availability on our Social media pages and attempt to resell your space. If your space sells we will inform you by email after the class runs and arrange a refund.

No refunds are given to those who fail to attend a workshop.

Workshop Cancellation – by Haberdasherdo

We will endeavour to run every published workshop, however there may be times, due to impracticalities, sickness or other unforeseen circumstances that we will cancel the workshop. In these instances you may transfer to any other workshops available. All payments received will be carried over to a new booking.  Alternatively you will receive a full refund.

We reserve the right to cancel any workshop at short notice. In this event you will be notified as soon as possible via telephone and/or email.
