NEW DATES ANNOUNCED – Weds 21st Feb, 28th Feb & 6th March, 10am – 11.30am
To get the most out of the workshop, you will be required to do some knitting homework meaning you can put the techniques demonstrated into action there and then and also be ready for the next stage of the workshop the following week.
A ball of sock knitting yarn (King Cole Zig Zag or Stylecraft Head Over Heels) – sufficient to make a pair of socks, circular needles and double pointed needles are included in the price.
Please note: this is not a learn to knit class but is designed for those who already know how to knit – knowledge of how to cast on and off, do a knit and purl stitch and read a pattern are essential.
What we will cover:
Lesson 1:
Introduction to the circular needle! Casting on methods, rib, doing the leg and heel flap.
Homework: to knit the ‘leg’ part of the sock and the gusset, ready for lesson 2 …
Lesson 2:
Heel techniques – we will cover the common heel method. Working the heel flap, turning the heel and picking up stitches and then working in the round again.
Homework: to knit the foot part of the sock, ready for lesson 3 …
Lesson 3:
There are a few different ways to finish off toes and we’ll look at the most popular technique suitable for cuff-down socks so you can give your socks a professional finish and wear them with pride.
Homework: to wear your socks!
