Held in our shop at 32a Southbourne Grove, Bournemouth, BH6 3RA. Three-week course: Tuesdays 20th & 27th February & 5th March, 6.30pm – 8pm
For those who have never crocheted before or anyone who is a bit rusty and needs a refresher to get their confidence back.
This 3-week course will aim to take you from zero to granny square. Classes are small so we can give you the attention you need in the beginning stages. You will be working up to creating granny squares, learning different stitches along the way. Once you can make a granny square, the sky’s the limit! You can create bags, scarves, garments and more.
There’s a bit of homework required between each week, to practice and hone the techniques learnt and come to class the following week with any questions. It’s a bit like learning to play a musical instrument – practice makes progress!
The price includes a soft-grip crochet hook and a how-to crochet book worth £14.99 … and refreshments!
Please note the following:
- We cannot stress enough the importance of regular practice at home afterwards to hone your technique.
- Left-handers will be taught the same way as right-handers. We find this works best, as the left hand does quite a bit of the work, and almost all patterns are written for right-handers. Both our daughters are left-handed and have learnt this way.
- We run ‘next steps’ crochet workshops for those wishing to undertake their first project such as a bag or shawl or cushion cover

Booking our classes is similar to making a theatre booking, the ‘show must go on’ regardless of your attendance, therefore classes are non-refundable and sadly there are no catch-up opportunities for missed sessions. Please do check your diary carefully before booking a class.
Workshop bookings require payment in full either through the website or in the shop with payment via cash, voucher or card. Gift Voucher bookings can be made by in the shop.

If you have to cancel your workshop please notify Haberdasherdo as soon as possible by telephone: 01202 428612, and confirm in writing by emailing us at info@haberdasherdo.co.uk
Workshop fees are non-refundable unless we cancel (see below)
You may transfer your workshop (subject to a £5 administration charge) to another of our workshops as long as we have 14 days notice. Alternatively, you may arrange to send an acquaintance in your place.
We do understand that sometimes you might have to cancel at late notice and we will do our best to re-fill you place by re-listing on our website, checking a waiting list, promoting late availability on our Social media pages and attempt to resell your space. If your space sells we will inform you by email after the class runs and arrange a refund.
No refunds are given to those who fail to attend a workshop.
Workshop Cancellation – by Haberdasherdo
We will endeavour to run every published workshop, however there may be times, due to impracticalities, sickness or other unforeseen circumstances that we will cancel the workshop. In these instances you may transfer to any other workshops available. All payments received will be carried over to a new booking. Alternatively you will receive a full refund.
We reserve the right to cancel any workshop at short notice. In this event you will be notified as soon as possible via telephone and/or email.
