70% ramie / 30% cotton

Ramie is a natural fibre, similar to linen, and is made from a perennial in the nettle family that is native to Asia and more commonly used for making fabric in countries like Japan, India and China, where the yarns have been used for over 6,000 years.  It is also known as grass linen or grass cloth and is renowned for its strength – stronger than flax and cotton.

Ramie blended with cotton helps make fabrics breathable, absorbent and soft to the touch. Just like linen, these fabrics will soften with age, getting better the more you wear them.  Ramie doesn’t shrink, and slubs in the yarn give the weave a distinctive cross-hatch texture.  Clothes made from our ramie-cotton blend are also more resistant to creasing than linen, so it’s perfect for holiday packing.
