Extend the life of your or your kids’ wardrobe by learning a few basic techniques in mending, repairing and embellishing clothes.
We’ll show you the best way to mend a side seam and a trouser crotch seam, how to sew on buttons and badges, stitch a hem and how to use repair tape to mend a tear.
Workshop Outline:
All workshops are 6pm – 7pm
Tuesday 16th June: Button up – get those buttons and badges sewn on properly. Removing old buttons, sewing and anchoring new buttons. Sewing on badges. Reel of top stitch thread; needle; buttons; quick unpick.
Tuesday 23rd June: Busted seams and Tricky Tears – how to repair seams that have come apart and techniques in strengthening seams. discover repair tape and where and how to use it. L-shape rips and tears. Also use of interfacing Turning clothes inside out, pressing and stitching. Reel of thread; pins/fabric clips; needles; quick unpick; Length of repair tape; piece of interfacing
Tuesday 30th June: Beyond Wundaweb – how to trust your own stitching! Techniques in pinning, tacking, hand-sewing and machine stitching your hems. Reel of thread; pins/fabric clips; needles; quick unpick
Q&A – look at your repairs if we have time
You will need to bring or buy a reel of thread and pack of needles (cost £3.80)
Groups are limited to 6 people per class.

Booking our classes is similar to making a theatre booking, the ‘show must go on’ regardless of your attendance, therefore classes are non-refundable and sadly there are no catch-up opportunities for missed sessions. Please do check your diary carefully before booking a class.
Workshop bookings require payment in full either through the website or in the shop with payment via cash, voucher or card. Gift Voucher bookings can be made by in the shop.

If you have to cancel your workshop please notify Haberdasherdo as soon as possible by telephone: 01202 428612, and confirm in writing by emailing us at info@haberdasherdo.co.uk
Workshop fees are non-refundable unless we cancel (see below)
You may transfer your workshop (subject to a £5 administration charge) to another of our workshops as long as we have 14 days notice. Alternatively, you may arrange to send an acquaintance in your place.
We do understand that sometimes you might have to cancel at late notice and we will do our best to re-fill you place by re-listing on our website, checking a waiting list, promoting late availability on our Social media pages and attempt to resell your space. If your space sells we will inform you by email after the class runs and arrange a refund.
No refunds are given to those who fail to attend a workshop.

We will endeavour to run every published workshop, however there may be times, due to impracticalities, sickness or other unforeseen circumstances that we will cancel the workshop. In these instances you may transfer to any other workshops available. All payments received will be carried over to a new booking. Alternatively you will receive a full refund.
We reserve the right to cancel any workshop at short notice. In this event you will be notified as soon as possible via telephone and/or email.
